The Decade of Ocean Science starts NOW and at IntelliReefs, we have an unbelievable amount of hope that governments and economies will ramp up their investment in and protection of the ocean. Ocean stakeholders worldwide have gathered to say “no more”, fearing the outstanding consequences of the continued decline in ocean health.
The UN has declared 2021 through the end of 2030 the “Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development”. This means that governing bodies around the world are going to double down on efforts to reverse the serious and long-lasting damage we have caused. This next decade will focus on adaptive management of vital ocean resources, data-driven scientific responses to climate change and degradation, and strategic use of global funding for restoration.
