Aquarium Aquaculture & Oceanite

Updated: Sep 30, 2022

Aquariums NEED Oceanite from IntelliReefs for sculpture, coral plugs and coral growth management

IntelliReefs is pleased to introduce Kyle Mathes, Aquatic Expert and proven leader, the newest member on the reef saving team!

Kyle will be spearheading our newest branch of reef building into the aquarium arena, as many of our followers have asked for aquarium sized Oceanite modules to build their coral collections!

"My goal is to unite hobbyist reef keepers, conservationist groups, public and educational aquariums in a likeminded pursuit of faster species growth and happiness within the aquarium biosystem."

“Not only will this mean harvesting fewer corals from the wild for hobby, but this is also aimed at propagation programs to help place corals back on a reef.”

Kyle Mathes has an extensive background in both research, and project management.

His experience places emphasis in Underwater Archaeology and Reef Keeping. He provides innovative engineering and survey perspectives to each project.

He has logged more than 4000 hours underwater in a variety of functions including and commercial and recreational diver capacities, most recently being an advisor to IntelliReefs.

IntelliReefs uses data-driven science and nanotechnology to build biodiverse, self-healing artificial reef, and reefscaped ecosystems. Our technology mimics natural oceanic infrastructure and can be tailored to site, specie, and function to ultimately restore our oceans. -----What a benefit to the aquarium industry!

Over the years Kyle has accumulated experience in both underwater and terrestrial survey, engineering, construction, and utility route planning and design, ultimately resulting in the most efficient and least ecologically disturbing methods for progress.

"Higher value aquariums are a proponent of living Art and Education, which is our greatest use case."

Conservation has always been and will always be a priority for Kyle. He is looking forward to working with IntelliReefs, a company dedicated to the same mission he strives toward daily.

"The world's largest collection of biodiversity, may very well be in aquariums, these rare species are so valuable, and deserve protection! Long term, and short term, these aquarium raised corals may be the foundation of new medicinal research.

Using Oceanite, created from pozzolonic minerals, which are the makeup of ancient reefs, IntelliReefs has had their advanced material science endorsed by the UN/UNESCO in 2021, project 112 LINK

"Aquarium hobbyists becoming citizen scientists brings a "safety net" to the larger world of Coral Reefs" stated Kyle, the first time we spoke at EarthX.

An aquarium (plural: aquariums or aquaria) is a vivarium of any size having at least one transparent side in which aquatic plants or animals are kept and displayed. Fishkeepers use aquaria to keep fish, invertebrates, amphibians, aquatic reptiles, such as turtles, and aquatic plants. Kyle Mathes photo credit to Zachary Sawyer
